  • Does our clinic need any regulatory approval to offer finance?

    No. Under Article 36FB of the RAO, clinics introducing patients to Medicred’s interest-free credit agreements of 12 months or less will fall within the new Merchant Broking Exemption. 

    Under this exemption, your clinic does not need FCA authorisation, provided it does not give credit advice or get involved in arranging the credit agreement. Medicred is the regulated lender and is responsible for all affordability checks, credit decisions, documentation, and regulatory obligations.  

  • How does Medicred ensure responsible lending?

    Medicred performs all credit and affordability assessments and carries out checks to identify potential financial vulnerability. Only patients who meet responsible lending criteria will be approved.  

  • How is patient data protected?

    All patient data is processed through secure, cloud-based systems that comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Data is encrypted, access-controlled, and handled only by authorised personnel. Medicred acts as the data controller for all lending activities and ensures that all processing, storage, and transfers meet UK data protection and security standards.  

  • How does Medicred support vulnerable patients?

    Medicred is trained to identify and support vulnerable customers. Our team provides sensitive, clear, and patient-centred communication throughout the process.
